Nice to see some overseas orders coming to the Clyde! Norway has agreed a deal to buy at least five anti-submarine frigates, based on the current Govan-built Type 26
This means Govan will be building a total of 20 Type 26 frigates, which is frankly astonishing1
The 10 billion pound deal is the biggest ever export warship order ever. Really good news for the workers at Govan and Scotstoun, and for Ferguson's, as this is a major addition to Govan's already committed workload, and it's without question that a lot of extra module building work will go to Ferguson's who have delivered already to Govan to the satisfaction of BAE Systems
And when more work comes to the Clyde, that means more skilled jobs and facilities for their skills follow...this is definitely good news.
